Before the Beginning
When North East Auto Truck Brokers starts rebuilding an auto transport
trailer, the work actually begins when we pick up the phone and make sure
that the used equipment we purchase is in good enough shape for our
exhaustive restoration process. Most of the equipment we choose comes
from the southeastern U.S., so we avoid much of the problem of corrosion
that comes with equipment run in the northern states where salt is used on
the highways during the winter.
The Refurb Process
- First, all the decks are set and the lines stripped. The cylinders are
taken off. If the rods are in good shape, the cylinders will be re-packed. If
they're not in good shape, cylinders are replaced.
- The entire frame gets sand-blasted.
- After sand-blasting, the frame is inspected. If it needs bottom rails,
the rails go in. Other structural repairs are done at this point.
- High mount nose is welded to the front : final length of trailer will be
53 ft.
- Trailer goes to the paint shop.
- The Replumb:
- new wires and lights installed
- cylinders repacked and put back on
- all new hydraulic hoses put in
- all new Teledyne valve banks put in
